24 Things I’ve Learned in 24 Years

With my 24th birthday coming up, I thought it would be a good idea to compile a list of 24 things I’ve learned throughout these 24 years of living. Here we go:

  1. Don’t buy cheap anything, honestly. Ex: cheap headphones, cheap clothes, cheap laptops; you get the point. Might as well save up and buy the item you know you will be able to keep for a long time.
  2. Always carry chapstick on you. Especially during the winter.
  3. Nobody has a perfect life. Everyone is going through something. Yes, even Kendall Jenner.
  4. Plan as much as you can, but also know that some things are unforeseeable.
  5. Be there for yourself just as much as you are there for other people.
  6. Never pack in a rush. You’ll forget something and it’ll be the one thing you really needed on your trip.
  7. Choose your friends wisely. The people you surround yourself with really does say a lot about you.
  8. Say yes to going to the concert and just figure it out later.
  9. Stop buying new books and finish the ones you already have that you haven’t read.
  10. Find a hobby. If you get bored of it or stop loving it, start another one.
  11. Adulting is no joke. Save money when you can and don’t spend just because you have money.
  12. Only quit a job once you’ve secured another one.
  13. College isn’t for everyone and that’s okay.
  14. Keep snacks in your bag at all times. Hangry people aren’t nice to be around.
  15. It doesn’t matter if you keep track of things in your planner or an e-calendar. Just make sure that you are keeping track of what’s going on in your life.
  16. You don’t need a new outfit for every occasion. It is OKAY to wear an old outfit.
  17. Invest in a good pair of jeans, sneakers, and a hoodie.
  18. It’s important to take care of both your physical and mental health.
  19. It’s okay to not be an open book. It takes time to open up to people.
  20. Dating doesn’t have to be too serious. Just have a clear idea of what you want your boundaries to be.
  21. Yoga is always a good idea. Except when it’s outside and very windy.
  22. Music festivals are overpriced and it’s not really about the music.
  23. Tell the people you love them as much as you can. You really never know when it’ll be the last time.
  24. Your first draft will never be your last.

Here’s to almost being 24! Yay! Thanks for reading my lil list:-)
