With my 24th birthday coming up, I thought it would be a good idea to compile a list of 24 things I’ve learned throughout these 24 years of living. Here we go:
- Don’t buy cheap anything, honestly. Ex: cheap headphones, cheap clothes, cheap laptops; you get the point. Might as well save up and buy the item you know you will be able to keep for a long time.
- Always carry chapstick on you. Especially during the winter.
- Nobody has a perfect life. Everyone is going through something. Yes, even Kendall Jenner.
- Plan as much as you can, but also know that some things are unforeseeable.
- Be there for yourself just as much as you are there for other people.
- Never pack in a rush. You’ll forget something and it’ll be the one thing you really needed on your trip.
- Choose your friends wisely. The people you surround yourself with really does say a lot about you.
- Say yes to going to the concert and just figure it out later.
- Stop buying new books and finish the ones you already have that you haven’t read.
- Find a hobby. If you get bored of it or stop loving it, start another one.
- Adulting is no joke. Save money when you can and don’t spend just because you have money.
- Only quit a job once you’ve secured another one.
- College isn’t for everyone and that’s okay.
- Keep snacks in your bag at all times. Hangry people aren’t nice to be around.
- It doesn’t matter if you keep track of things in your planner or an e-calendar. Just make sure that you are keeping track of what’s going on in your life.
- You don’t need a new outfit for every occasion. It is OKAY to wear an old outfit.
- Invest in a good pair of jeans, sneakers, and a hoodie.
- It’s important to take care of both your physical and mental health.
- It’s okay to not be an open book. It takes time to open up to people.
- Dating doesn’t have to be too serious. Just have a clear idea of what you want your boundaries to be.
- Yoga is always a good idea. Except when it’s outside and very windy.
- Music festivals are overpriced and it’s not really about the music.
- Tell the people you love them as much as you can. You really never know when it’ll be the last time.
- Your first draft will never be your last.
Here’s to almost being 24! Yay! Thanks for reading my lil list:-)
